The reviews were good. Yet, it still awe me. Given the true story of a well known physicist, and the track record of its director James Marsh. Marsh is a documentary director, and this is a bio-pic. So, this is supposed to be packed with boring facts and brain-frying theories. But it didnt. It is as beautiful as any award winning film. What I didnt expect is, this is actually a heart-warming love story. It actually shows audience that the smartest man on earth is no superhuman. He is just another man struggling through life like everyone else. No, worst. But, he has had it all. The film is based on the book by Jane Hawking. When the whole world sees Stephen Hawking as the smartest man alive, his wife sees him as a husband and a father to her children. It is a story that need to be told. While Felicity Jones Jane Hawking is heart-breakingly wonderful, Eddie Redmaynes Hawking is hard work and hardcore acting. He had to gradually use less of his physical muscle on expressing his feelings while depended on his eyes as the only part of his body to show the characters feelings. I never know human could do that. For those science-lovers who wish to see more of Hawkings work on film, they are going to be disappointed. Remember, this is Jane Hawkings story. This is a love story with Stephen Hawking as the hero. His work is just a part of it. What really strikes me is the story telling. Marsh did them mostly by visual. There are hardly any lines about the sacrifices on the relationship. Its all visual. Its understood. This film is easily one of the best film of 2014. Now in selected GSCMOVIES theatres. Do not miss it.
