The rigours of contest dieting and just even normal deficit - TopicsExpress

The rigours of contest dieting and just even normal deficit dieting can be challenging. You have to control portions & volumes etc, you know have and use self control, common sense and moderation. Its certainly not mentally free as just instinctive eating when you have no real physique goal in mind or even in surplus dieting periods where it can be a little more relaxed with intakes and precision isnt as important. Flexible dieting allows for the rigours of contest dieting or deficit dieting to be far less mentally challenging due to the freedom of food choice and personal preference etc to be used. All foods in one way or another can be consumed in meeting daily nutritional needs. Yes you read right, flexible dieters eat foods to meet their daily nutritional needs. Not just junk food diet as many believe. Its one thing to be restricted in the sense of calories but its another to be restricted in your food type options. That is the down fall of the typical clean eating diet. You not only have the mental challenge of being in a calorie controlled phase but also where you have no personal preference or dietary flexibility with food type options. You are not better than anyone else if youve made or followed a diet that is mentally tougher than it needs to be. Chances are you will develop a bad/poor relationship with food or an eating disorder. You will never truly be free from mentally labelling foods and the cycle of guilt and self punishment that occurs. And if you want to be healthy, that mindset and dieting ideology is far from healthy. Physiologically you will be far from healthy (due to limited food type varieties and therefore limited range of nutrients consumed) but mentally you will be equally unhealthy. Dieting smart and flexible.
