The road to recover for mom has begun. It will be a long process but so far things seem to be going smoothly and shes in good spirits. The operation she had done was called an endovascular coiling. During this procedure, they enter and feed a series of platinum coils through an artery near her groin to the ruptured aneurysm in her brain. These coils will prevent further bleeding an expansion of the aneurysm. Since the surgery, she has had a cranial and sub-clavian catheter put in. These are drainage tubes that are located at the top of her skull and underneath her collar bone. These help release pressure from the build up of cerebral and spinal fluid. Due to these tubes and trying to find the happy medium of fluid to drain without it being too little or too much are causing mom to have severe headaches. Besides the headaches (and her shaved head), everything else seems to be on pace for her to make a full recovery. One of her Doctors was in this morning for a post-op check up and said its truly a miracle that she survived this terrifying incident. He said the majority of people with an aneurysm of her magnitude dont survive long enough to even make it into surgery.
