The second in my bucket: The top 10 footballers Ive ever seen play - TopicsExpress

The second in my bucket: The top 10 footballers Ive ever seen play the game live, in no particular order. Thanks for the nomination, Prateek! And Im gonna make a romantics list here, if you dont agree to it, its your problem (Ill not include Maldini, because Ive never seen him play left back- and Ill not include Lio Messi, because I have never seen him inspire a whole squad of mediocre players to a fantastic win. Records will say he is the best there ever was, and records will be unfair to the incredibly talented set of footballers that were unlucky to be his teammates at Barcelona, and records will never speak of the heroics of Mascherano in the 2014 WC, and numerous others on numerous other occasions). My list, my choice! :) 1) Oliver Kahn: Das Konig. nuff said. 2) David Beckham: Some say he is famous for being famous. The ones who know better say they were barking mad. 3) Paul Scholes - The Midfield Maestro: The Ginger prince :) The best passer of the ball. 4) Ronaldinho Gaúcho: He says that the football is his girlfriend. Everyone can see they were made for each other! 5) Philipp Lahm: The best captain, the best fullback, Ive ever seen. 6) Francesco Totti: The guy who practically invented the False 9 position, the guy who is still going strong at the age of almost 40. Setting up the Serie A alight, even at his age. 7) Wayne Rooney: Because this guy has redefined the word Talisman. He being there on the pitch makes a difference. Every time. He doesnt even have to touch the ball. 8) Ronaldo Luíz Nazário de Lima: Hated him, hated him from the bottom of my heart for the 2002 final, but man, what a striker. What a frontman to have in your side! 9) Miroslav Klose and Thomas Müller: because rating them differently wouldnt be fair on either. One is the best goalgetter the World Cup has ever seen, despite being technically far inferior to the superstars who are paid far more than he ever was, and, coming from the generation when Germans were terribly underrated, the world never paid him the due tribute he deserved. Well, he carved out his niche in the annals of the game himself. The second one is destined to break his record... perhaps in 2022? Worthy torchbearer, if anything. 10) Sebastian Deisler: Funny that I couldnt even find a page to tag, but thats Seb Deisler. One of the most talented right wingers, who retired from professional football when all his peers are supposed to be at the pinnacle of their careers. That story of an injury- hit genius will never be told, but I remember. Before I finish this, it would be unfair not to mention Ryan Giggs, Javier Zanetti, Raúl González, Gary Neville, Didier Drogba, Xavi, Andres Iniesta and so, so many more... But the list can go on and on, so Ive got to stop somewhere I guess! Its time for Haris Jadoon and Teesta Sinha Ray to post their list of top 10s.
