The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity. Luke 8:14 (NIV) As funny as this may sound, weeds are tenacious. Regardless of where you plant the nicest of flowers, weeds manage to also spring up through the tiniest of cracks and can begin to choke the flower. The dangerous thing about weeds is that they do not spring up suddenly; it is a slow and subtle process. AS the days go by the weed gets closer and closer to the flower until it starts to wrap itself around the flower and choke out its growth. In essence, Jesus is saying that our life gets choked out with the cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit. This is a gradual process. This represents someone who thinks cares and riches are the only focus in life. Slowly, this person begins to lose heart. In reality, He is the only One that should be seated in the center of our life. Whats choking out the (spiritual) life in you? GBY! Pastors Ruben & Terry Trevino
