The sieges are over. The assassins have been killed. Now is the time to reflect on what transpired in these last few days in Paris. In all about 17 people died in the initial carnage and the subsequent police action that included the 3 terrorists. What is going to happen now? Al Qaeda in Yemen has claimed responsibility for the murders and killings. Will the French government organise a coalition of western powers to raid and wage war against Yemen? There were several attacks on Mosques in France. Islamophobia will only heighten. All Muslims will be under suspicion. Newspapers and other media across the globe have rightfully given prominence to the 4 senior journalists and cartoonists of Charlie Hebdo who died. But who was the first victim in this bloody saga? He was a policeman shot point blank. He was French and he died serving his country. He was a Muslim. He was Ahmed Merabat. Media should highlight this fact and it is very important if innocent Muslim lives are to be saved in France in the coming days. Media has a great responsibility and it must bear it with fairness. The cycle of Hate and killings must be stopped. The biggest responsibility to put an end to Islamic Terrorism lies not with Militaries, Intelligence services or the police. It lies with ordinary Muslims everywhere. They will find allies from every religion and society. They must openly oppose the use of Violence as a means of achieving political ends & expressing dissent by a small minority amongst them. They must oppose the hate spewing Mullahs inside the mosques. They must organise themselves and agitate against the likes of ISIS, Al Qaeda, Taliban, LeT, JeM, IM, etc It is surprising that not a single Muslim voice is heard against these killers and Killing machines. Not one Muslim politician stands up and speaks against the brainless, medieval Mullahs spreading hate ( An association of Mosques have condemned the Paris killings but it came too late in the day, it is too little) They must oppose in every available forum against countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar who are spending Billions & Billions of oil dollars across the world to radicalise Muslims and spread terror ideology through Madrassas. Radicalisation is the sure shot precursor to Terrorism. Why is it that there are no Hindu Terrorists or Hindu Terror despite being repeated victims of terrorism and violence? Because the biggest opposition to Hindu Fundamentalist thought comes not from Muslims or Christians but from Hindus themselves. Also because violence is not an answer to violence. (Remember the banal cliché that an eye for eye makes the whole world blind? Banal & a Cliché but very true) Many in India complain that Hindus are the biggest enemies of Hinduism. They are wrong. Hindus are the biggest enemies of Bigotry and Terrorism. Also Hindus laugh & mock at their own gods and religion. That is why there is no Charlie Hebdo in India. There is no need. Over the ages Hindus have learnt to laugh at themselves. Let everyone note this. Muslims especially. There will always be a small minority in every religion or group who are extreme in their thinking but they must not be given prominence. Either by the people or the media. There are more good than bad people and they must be the focus. Not some rotten apples.
