The situation is getting worse in Turkey, Part 2 By İrfan Erdogan, professor In Ankara, the situation was worse in Kugulu park and especially Dikmen neighborhood. In Dikmen, at 8:10 pm, police suddenly attacked the local people who have been demonstrating every night just like the people in various neighborhoods in Ankara and other cities). Police used pressured water and gas not only the people in the street but also people who were watching the event from their house windows and balconies. The local people were extremely angry because of sudden attacks and indiscriminate use of force to everybody. Because of heightened anger, people in Dikmen started active resistance using stones and any materials they can find on the street. The attack by police and active resistance from people in the Dikmen streets lasted until 4: 00 am. Because of the lie machine of the government, the local people were telling the TV reporters that the police threw gas bombs to a mosque and also to the windows of some businesses. The local people are aware of the fact that the government will provoke the pro-government people by telling them that demonstrators broke windows and destroyed a mosque (as if the Dikmen people are not Muslims). At around 1:00 am, people witnessed that the police was adding chemicals to the vehicles that shoot pressured water to people. At around 2:00 am, attacks and resistance increased and an unknown number of local people were wounded. The police increased the attacks to peoples’ houses using gas and pressured water with unknown chemicals in. The Number of cars that joined the demonstrations also increased. At 3:00 am, the All Dikmen section of Ankara was under heavy gas smoke. Unfortunately there are many undercover police among the people and they start arresting people when they are alone or the crowd is sparse. At 11 pm, the police attacked the peaceful demonstrators in the Kugulu Park, Tunalı Hilmi Street and Kennedy Street, by using gas and noise bombs. A foreign journalist also was attacked by the police using pressured water. Here is the clip that shows that attack: https://59saniye/muhabir-tom-bartoni-tazyikli-su-ile-vuran-toma/ In Izmir and other cities, people protested against the police attack and they too faced police action. We do not know how many people have been detained and arrested up to today. For instance, Yesterday, 22 of 25 detainees were arrested only in a single city (Ankara). Today (Sunday). there will be more violence by the police and some goons with knives and sticks. A shameful human situation.
