The size of the crowd at this festival leads me to believe that Woodstock was a very tangible and unusually valuable training tool to be studied in depth by concert promoters, security staff, venue partners, financiers, local law and municipal code enforcement officers, vendors, local merchants and even ticket holders... The musicians however, simply had to take the stage and do what they do to melt the crowd into the palms of their hands and for a time the inner chaos would subside giving the rest of the pieces of the machine a chance to catch up... I was 9 years old when this show took place, and though I was too young to have been a part of the world at that time I can still appreciate the reverence lavished upon the bands of this era by a crowd more diverse than the world will ever again see... To put so powerful a line-up of artists on one stage today would take years of contract negotiations merely trying to sort out the headliner while keeping the rest of the egos properly stroked, and a ticket through the gate would cost a thousand dollars before they got to the hands of the scalpers or were won by embattled EBay bidders wealthy enough to buy them for their spoiled kids... Bands of the seventies seemed to easily skip across the spectrum of genres without losing a single fan, but considering the higher profile acts of this day in time, their loyal and specified fans divided among themselves, seemingly forced to gather in one place to see their superstar take the stage, would almost certainly become a recipe for disaster well worthy of the presence of the National Guard... https://youtube/watch?v=pRQ1qkGxoR0
