The story of Lucky the Maltese and Archie the Hound. Lucky the Maltese has wonderful, observant owners who back in May noticed that he was not his usual boisterous, happy self. They brought Lucky into the clinic showing signs of lethargy, pale mucous membranes and vomiting. Lucky was diagnosed with Immune Mediated Haemolytic Anaemia. A condition where the patient’s immune system begins attacking its own red blood cells. Just recently, Lucky had a relapse. He required a blood transfusion in order to save his life as his body was destroying his red blood cells faster than he could produce them. Introducing Archie the Hound. A very willing blood donor! After receiving some much vital healthy blood from Archie through a blood transfusion, Lucky started to feel a whole lot better within a few hours. Archie was later treated to a wonderful meal and is back to his crazy energetic self and as for Lucky, well as you can see in the last photo...., he is happy, healthier and has gone home to be with his lovely family.
