The strangest things happen sometimes... I was spending some - TopicsExpress

The strangest things happen sometimes... I was spending some time with a friend yesterday morning, and she wanted to stop at Starbucks for a green tea. Having the occasional craving for a caramel macchiato, I agreed. As we were walking toward the entrance, my eyes shifted to the right, at the small, local bookstore next door. My immediate thought was Hmmm...I wonder if they work with local authors, allowing them to sell their books in the store...I should stop in and ask. I mentioned this to my friend, and she agreed that it couldnt hurt to ask. We decided to sit inside and enjoy our drinks for awhile, and then stop in the bookstore afterward. After sitting inside of the Starbucks for about 15 minutes, a man at the table next to us leaned over toward me and said Excuse me, but I think I know you. Youre Steve, right? he said as he reached over to shake my hand. Yes, I answered cautiously while accepting his handshake. I didnt remember ever meeting him before, but thats not unusual for me. My mind doesnt really work so fluidly sometimes...I have lapses...Dont judge me. You used to play the bass at Woodstock Bible Church, didnt you? Yes, I did. I answered with a smile. You used to write their blog too, didnt you? Yes, I answered with a chuckle. As a matter of fact, I just returned this week. I played there last Sunday, and Ill be writing their blog again in another day or so. I see, he answered. Didnt you move to Michigan or something? Yes I did. I just moved back here last week. What did you do while you were in Michigan? he asked Wow...A lot of things, I answered as I leaned back in my seat. I wrote a 400+ page novel. Whats the name of your novel? he asked, eyebrows raised. 13 Stops. I answered. Really? Thats your novel? Ben was just talking about that on Facebook. I tried to find it on Amazon, but I was in a bit of a rush. You know what? You should talk to the owner of the bookstore next door. She loves working with local authors to promote and sell their work. She has book signings and Meet the author events all the time. Hmmm.....Imagine that... Yes, I stopped there after finishing my drink. Funny how things happen sometimes, no?
