The sun has set on the final day of our 40th wedding anniversary. Marlene and I stretched it out to a full weekend. Something everyday. It IS a big deal. Some people dont get to live for 40 yrs. Many more cant stay married for 40 yrs. We have been very blessed from the beginning. Part of our fun time was shared with Marlenes sister, Carla, and her husband Lynn. By itself that was a very nice addition to our weekend. Yesterday we, the four of us, went to the Greek Festival. That has been a tradition for Marlene and I for about 35 yrs. If you have never been to one, you are missing out. Greek Festival is strong on traditional music, dance, and food, of Greece. Tours of the Cathedral are available. I have always enjoyed the museum located beneath the Cathedral. A former teacher from my high school was the keeper of the museum for many years until his passing. He really knew the history of Greeks in Utah. The names, places, what they did. Hes another of those men I am thankful to have even known. Today, We, with the Hewards, Marlenes sister and brother in law, attended our regional Church conference with Dallin H. Oaks, and others. They, Hewards, also joined us for a picnic up in our favorite place in Big Cottonwood Canyon. They had never been there before and I always enjoy being there again. On our return down the canyon we had a chance to see a very large, beautiful, bull elk in his finest. In all my years of visiting that canyon I had never seen an elk there before. Earlier this year our campground was visited by a young black bear. It is thought she is the same young bear that found a way into someones cabin for lunch and was removed to another location. I still have yet to see a bear in any of our canyons. The last Saturday of this month will mark another anniversary for Marlene, and I. That will be 41 yrs since we first got together after her move to Utah. No plans for that anniversary have yet been announced. That means, she will let me know later.
