The terrain is now finally finished. Aside from a few bugs where the grass was oddly offset, and a few worlds didnt have the terrain drawing properly from not correctly cropping the image, the terrain is now good to go. From this, Carnivalestas memory usage dropped to only 89,586,524 (85.44 MB), well under the limit, offering plenty of room for the enemies and other game objects for the 96 MB limit. I know of yet another enhancement I could do, one that involves the sky darkening effect, but Im lacking a formula. While this enhancement isnt as effective as the others, its still a good 3/4 to 1 1/2 MB saved. This, however, can wait. What formula am I needing? Stand on a perfect sphere and look exactly straight across for your position. I need to know how far Id need to look down, in distance units at a certain distance from me. I expect the value to start slow but accelerate. Past the diameter of the sphere and an error occurs. At the diameter of the sphere, it would be the radius of the sphere. If you need a diagram, let me know and I could make one up, a quick and simple one at that. This now means changing my timing system is all that remains for the big tasks involving SDL... well, and maybe getting fullscreen mode active (and Winamp will get really, really annoying regarding this as the media library gets bigger every time I change the resolution and the like - Im surprised they havent fixed that in the 5 or so years Ive known about it (and mentioned it on Winamps forums)).
