The third and the last part of Government which is the closest to the people, the local Government has been paralyzed long time ago in Nigeria. Now the local government is seen as just another avenue by some state governors to make money. What is the essence of having a Local council, when the sitting governor will not conduct election into the council, just to put his political associates into offices as caretaker for a complete four years. Nobody cares, it is now about which political party is ruling in the state. A time is coming when, Governors will also be handpicked by some set of people and nobody will be able to say anything. Some council chairmen are now seen as spare or used tyres, after the payment of workers salaries, no more, no less. Is this the Democracy that K1 De Ultimate sang about, Is this the same Democracy that the likes of Beeko, Fawehinmi, Falana, e.t.c. fought for? We really need to ask questions. Council flats are in London, but most of our own local council are after the Citizen, with their task forces, they are only interested in how much they will claim from seized goods, how much will you pay to re-open your locked up shops e.t.c. How old is your council chairman? thats a question for another day, does he care about the development of the system? Questions, questions, questions, though it is late, but not too late to ask questions.
