The third single off my second mixtape, Who Is Dominique Pierce? This song really means a lot to me. I wrote this song on a flight to Michigan in 2013. It was a night flight and as we were ascending, it was raining quite a bit. Once we got above the clouds, the rain stopped, and the view was incredible. I started writing over this Nujabes instrumental because the mood was perfect, and I decided that it was a must to finish the song before the flight ended. As we had to turn off our electronics when the plane was ready to land, I had to turn off my ipod and phone which I was writing in, and I wrote the last 4 lines on a barf bag, which I still have. The problem with this song was that I wrote the chorus with a high pitched male vocalist in mind, and I had a lot of trouble finding one. I hoped Jon Bellion would do it, and I tweeted him several times to no avail, and I almost gave up on recording this song, and decided I would save it for the third mixtape. On May 1, 2014, I decided to go to Seaport Village with a friend just to walk around at night. As we were leaving, Hayden Marlon walked past us, singing out loud with headphones on. My friend caught attention of his voice and asked if I had heard him, and I immediately followed him and introduced myself and asked if he would do this song with me. Turns out that this singer had the exact voice I was looking for, and he was so inspiring and his love for God is unmatched by anyone I have ever met. This is not just a song. Its a story with 3 morals behind it: Gods work and timing is perfect, If it is meant to be, it will happen, and NEVER ever be afraid to take chances, because so much beauty can come out of the little risks we take.
