The third team game got off to something of an epic start, with Tim Turner having forgotten his spikes taking to the field resplendent in his mothers bright pink carpet slippers that he absent mindedly put on as he was leaving the house, and Ed Fowles trying to open the bowling in a Boycottesque manner wearing his cap. In a rather tedious innings Whitley Bridge scored 146-6, which on a low slow pudding was actually a respectable score. A wicketless Ben Harrison bowled a tidy opening spell as did the a fore mentioned Ed, and Jimmy Cush interspersed some trimmers with the odd wide. Saquers getting 4 for with his assortments. In reply Thornes got off to a stuttering start losing wickets and scoring runs in fits and starts. Saquers held the innings together well with stout defence mingled with an occasional belligerent smite of the round leather object. Chris Bowley batted well, and there was defiance from Ben H, Tina T & Arafath, before a brief cameo from Stuart Lacey, with one wicket left it was left to the obdurate Simon Winder with a stout 0 not out and Saquers who finished on 87 not out to knock off the last 30 odd and pass the finishing line with 4 overs to spare.
