The three aspects of Alessa in the Silent Hill movie are likely meant to represent the Holy Trinity of Christian beliefs. Like the Holy Trinity, they are three incarnations of one powerful being who are both one and separate all at the same time. *Alessa: She is literally the God of the movies world. Alessa created both the Fog World and the Otherworld, as well as the monsters within, who are borne from her psyche. Like the Christian God, she has the power to decide the fates of each person in her world. As well, she splits herself into three beings sharing one identity, all of whom she controls. *Dark Alessa: The Holy Ghost is referred to as the Spirit of Truth, something Dark Alessa embodies. It is Dark Alessa who shows Rose the truth throughout the films events, dispelling the lies of the cult. To help spread the truth, the Holy Ghost has been noted to possess the followers of Jesus, speaking through them during the possession. Similarly, Dark Alessa possesses Rose in the hospital and then uses her as a mouthpiece for the truth when confronting the cult. The sequence of Rose merging with Dark Alessa is a likely representation of the Virgin Mary being impregnated by the Holy Ghost. This can be seen in how Dark Alessa is specifically shown merging directly into Roses womb, with Rose being the non-biological mother of the third member of the Trinity. *Sharon: Sharon is a supernatural manifestation of a God-like entity who is sent to Earth (the real world) by that entity for a preset amount of time. Like the Christ child, she has no real parents, and her relationship to Rose has been likened to immaculate conception in interviews with director Christophe Gans. Sharon is referenced as being the child of Alessa, though she is not literally her daughter, similar to how Jesus is the son of God. It is possible that the cross seen in the opening sequence may be a hint to Sharons status as a representation of the Christ child. Certainly its known that the shooting location was moved to the other side of the street specifically so the cross could be included in the shot.
