The thrill of the hunt is like no other. I get a rush from seeking out the treasures and trinkets that have been secreted away for years and years in old country estates and warehouses alike. So when my friend Paul, who I had not heard from for a good 20 years popped up on twitter one day, I had to jump at the chance of asking him to find me one of my dream cars, a black sunroof oval. Paul Medhurst along with his friend Mark Fulton have built up arguably the most reputable VW overhauling business in the UK, Type 2 Detectives. The hunt was on and it wasn’t long before they came up trumps and worked their T2D magic! And here it is, a 1956 Sunroof deluxe with 356 Porsche wheels and brakes, a hot-rodded 1300 motor, petri steering wheel and lowered suspension. And that’s not all, watch this space as they are currently restoring my 1952 split Beetle and a cheeky 59 race car. type2detectives
