The tragedy of the sinking immigrant boat off the coast of Italy cannot fail to make one sad. Here you have ever more people, fleeing their impoverished over populate homelands in a vain attempt to reach the illusion of Europe; jobs, security and a good life, something now missing for ever more Europeans. So what do the EU do? Instead of dealing with reality and trying to come to grips with the causes of the tragedy, they now plan to burden share and so scatter the immigrants widely across the EU from next year, providing even more grounds for people to flee, seeking the illusion of jobs and security. It will mean Ireland having to take ever more desperate people in, despite the fact that our own are leaving on somewhat better boats; another classic example of the EU, with the full help of our own politicians, making things worse
