The trip was worth it…Cathedral Valley was an untouched high desert paradise with canyons and cliffs and mesas galore. I have to give up on the superlatives…they just do not convey the impact of seeing the landscape. The first stop was in the Lower Cathedral Valley, where two isolated towers stand. The Temple of the Sun and Temple of the Moon are just sitting there on the valley floor…you can walk right up the bases and look up at the red rock! An interesting side feature near the Temple of the Sun was the Glass Mountain! It was actually quite small, but was composed of gypsum crystals that were mostly transparent.
