The trouble with the Hospital Discharge Procedure: the docs that have been caring for you all week and know your status personally come to you at 11am and say you can go. However they are not the ones that can actually discharge you...it is the Hospital Doctor, whom you have never met and has no personal knowledge of your status, that has to write the discharge orders. So the patient sits for an additional 4 to 5 hours waiting for that particular doctor to make their rounds around the hospital. They have already charged for the day so me laying here is of no benefit.
