The unceremonious shunting out of Gen.(Retd.) Dr. V.K. Singh and induction of Dr. Jitendra Singh as Union Minister in DONER ministry just leaves everybody clueless about what the Union Govt. has in its mind about the welfare of the entire Northeast region of the country. We all remember the promises made by the Hon’ble PM regarding development of this region during his election campaign. But it has been quite unfortunate to see that no significant move in this direction has been taken up so far even to draw a roadmap or pragmatic action plan. A resourceful region with enormous international trade potential definitely deserves more attention and planning for a permanent face-lift and just by changing the guard we can hardly succeed to achieve anything worth mentioning.
