The usually comedic Steve Carell is getting career changing advance raves for his upcoming dramatic turn in Bennett Millers upcoming film, Foxcatcher. (Miller just won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival.) The biggest question seems to be not if he will be Oscar nominated, but in which category, for Best Actor or Best Supporting. What other actors generally known for comedy have given winning performances in dramatic turns? I loved his dour turn as the Proust expert in Little Miss Sunshine.
