The western slope of the rockies is cool, but nothing really - TopicsExpress

The western slope of the rockies is cool, but nothing really prepares you for south central Utah. It is an amazing landscape. Ive never seen anything like it. Behind in our travel schedule because of the snow storm around Loveland pass. Long day today. Weve driven across Utah and decided to settle for the night in Hurricane. Tomorrow, well go through Las Vegas relatively early, cross the Mojave desert just below Death Valley and make it to Pasadena by mid-afternoon. Forecast high is 95. Yikes. The hours in the desert should help me adjust, I guess. Some observations. It is amazing that it is this easy to go so far. A little weather in Ohio and the Rockies. A bit of tense traffic during rush hour but I cant remember where it was. Otherwise, lots of time on cruise control with speed limits of 70-80. Ill definitely do this at least once more. Traveling with pets is a pain in the ass. Dogs are easy but limit you options for overnights. We spend hours each afternoon estimating where well end up that night and then finding out where pets are welcomed. Thats nothing compared to cats. We usually have to sneak them in. Theres lots more paraphernalia for them. Also, cats are nocturnal. I knew this, but having them in a house, one doesnt appreciate it this so much. Living in one room with them, it is impossible to ignore. It is best that Mika and Frank will not be coming back east with me. Thanks for all the likes and notes. Because of facebook, Ive realized Pasadena is just 3 hrs from Las Vegas where my high school friend, Harold Hays can be found at certain times of the year. Cant wait to visit him there and his other haunts.
