The wind is howling and cold. When I was growing up we got big - TopicsExpress

The wind is howling and cold. When I was growing up we got big snows like they get in Nebraska now. The only heat we had was wood and if we was lucky we had a small amount coal that we used very careful. The houses back then had no insulation in the walls. You could throw a cat thru the walls anywhere. We had no indoor plumbing at all. Alice Hills dad hauled water to our house and put in the cistern. We would take a bucket tied on a rope and bring it up when we needed it. Every morning, very early someone would get up and build a fire in the heating stove. My mother put red bricks under the heating storm all day and at night wrap them and put at our feet at night. We slept under enough cover that once in bed you could not turn over. Sorry for the long post but this is just some things that reminds me to be thankful for everything I have today. And believe me when I say Thank you Lord.
