The winning team of the finals of Blayney’s Thursday night Autumn competition on the 20th of June was Team 2. Team members Geoff MacDonald and Carly Williams have clearly been the most consistent players over the whole season and were deserving winners, taking out the finals 4 games to 1. Runner-up was Team 5. Young Jordan Turner has been the stalwart of this team proving his flexibility by playing with a range of substitutes over the season following the withdrawal of his assigned partner just as the comp began. Regular substitute Kelly MacDonald partnered Jordan in their finals tilt. An indication of the tightness of this match was the noise level of celebration (or despair) as each point was battled out! All sets went to 4 games, some to 5. There was only a 2 point difference in the final game of each singles set! Team 6 (Zac Pauletto and sub Alastair Crane) managed to reverse its recent result against Team 3 (Bradley Meyers & Matthew Crane) to take third place in their 3-2 win. In the remaining match Team 1 (Jye Turner and Gianni Pauletto) took fifth place when they defeated Team 4 (Tate Juffermans and Nick Grimmett) 4 games to 1. Based on these results the following players’ handicaps will be adjusted by 1 point: Gianni Pauleto -1; Tate Juffermans +1; Geoff MacDonald -1; Jordan Turner +1, Carly Williams -1; Kelly MacDonald +1; Alastair Crane -1. Come along this Thursday night (27 June) and have a go in our prize night. All welcome. Cost $7. This is a great opportunity for you to try out table tennis and have lots of fun.
