The woman with the issue of blood for 12 years. Spent her effort and money finding a cure for her sickness. So now she was sick tired and broke and probably homeless. According to levitical laws this woman was not fit for public appearance. She was deemed unclean and cast out from among the clean people inside the city. Yet she heard news of a man Jesus. Who performed miracles. Good news great news unconditional love from one man. Instead of working in her own self righteousness now this woman heard good news and boldly went forth to touch the hem of Jesus robe. Then Jesus turned with his loving eyes and said your faith has made you whole. Probably almost immediately following this miracle. There was the story of jairuses daughter perceived dead. She was 12 years old. Jesus said she was not dead but that she was just asleep. They made fun of Jesus for saying this, then he sent them out and told the young girl to arise. Then commanded to give her meat to eat. These 2 stories carry lots of things. The woman is symbolized as the church. The bleeding church operating in its self righteous (bleeding filthy rags). religious attitude of performance and judging others performance. 12 in her story represents the 12 tribes of Israel. The levitical laws represent something that kept this woman in bondage and bleeding. The young 12 year old girl represents the church of today and tomorrow. Grace babies. 12 represents disciples. The church of yesteryear is still ridiculing Jesus just as the parents did to Jesus in her story. This means churches are not accepting grace. They make fun of the all loving Jesus. The girl was only asleep because the sleepy Christian church of yesteryear was feeding this girl law and milk. So the girl was basically mesmerized as Paul calls it. Not really getting any information about Jesus and what He has done. Instead they tried to teach the little girl what she needed to do and the girl was not receptive because it sounded like a bunch of religious Mumbo jumbo. And it took Jesus Christ to arise this young girl from her sleep and then it was commanded from that point that the church receive meat to eat and not milk. You can reference Jesus saying before. " I have meat to eat that you know not of" to the disciples. Just as he commanded in this story that they teach meat now. Not milk. The bleeding church of today and tomorrow will not be able to wake up until we give up our own self righteousness. And put our faith in Jesus finished work and his righteousness in us. This is not an attempt to spread condemnation on the church. I love the church. The church is awesome when religion is not a part of it. Thank you Jesus. Amen.
