Just a minor addendum though... While the ridiculous charge of sedition (section 124A Indian Cr.Pc) has been lifted from the 67 Kashmiri students, who were beaten up and abused by their Indian peers and rusticated from the university at Meerut, UP, they crucially still remain charged under section 153A (allegedly for promoting enmity between different groups) and section 427 (mischief) of the Indian Cr.Pc. Of due relevance is the fact that in nearby Muzaffarnagar, the Hindu upper-caste Jats alleged to be responsible for mass gang-rapes of hundreds of Muslim girls and women, mostly lower-caste, during the pogrom of September 2013, remain uncharged and free. One wonders if the champions of Indian democracy actually think that raping women of the minority Muslim community is less mischievous [sic] or more productive of communal harmony than simply cheering for the Pakistani cricket team in a last minute victory?! So much for freedom of speech, eh?! Oh, I forgot the much-touted f of s is only to be used specifically to abuse and insult the marginalized, the always already oppressed; never for the right of the marginalized to speak back.
