“Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death” (James 1:15) The ungodly hold firmly onto the lighted stick of dynamite called “sin.” They relish its flickering flame. Lust may delight the human heart, but its terrible consequences are sin, death, and hell. Charles Spurgeon so rightly said, “Human nature rises against restraint: ‘I had not known lust except the Law had said, ‘Thou shall not covet.’ The depravity of man is excited to rebellion by the promulgation of laws. So evil are we, that we conceive at once the desire to commit an act, simply because it is forbidden.”
