There are 40 million refugees in the world according to the UN. If even a few million of these can afford a plane to Indonesia and then get on to a boat to head for Australia, would you grant them residential status? What about the poor already in Australia. 100,000 homeless. Plus many people struggle to pay their utility bills. Surely we should be helping poor Australians before taking in big numbers of refugees from overseas.
