There are a LOT of books that have left a mark on me, but Ill give you the first 10 that come to mind. I read quite a bit of genres, and a lot of the books on my list are childrens books or YA. Im 36, but these are the ones that touched me that I still search out to this day to have in my hands. 1-The Ordinary Princess by M. M. Kaye-its a childrens book, and a favorite of mine that I read over and over. It taught me that theres power in being true to ones self and that being ordinary is okay and quite powerful. 2-Weaveworld by Clive Barker-I read this in middle school, over and over. Clive Barker is one of my favorite authors. I was given a copy when a friend went to New York and he brought it back as a gift...got me through my first foray into the foster care system. 3-The Princess Bride by William Goldman-I love this book. 4-The Dragonlance series by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman-this book series has my favorite character, Raistlin. Hes not a hero, hes more of an anti-hero, perhaps? He follows his own moral code and is just fantastic to read about, in my opinion. 5-Swan Song by Robert McCammon-This is compared to Stephen Kings The Stand, but I like it better. 6-Richard Pecks Blossom Culp series-About a girl in the early 1900s who was from the wrong side of the tracks. Shes smart, resourceful, and has a twinge of the Sight. This Im still trying to find a couple of them, but I will own all four again. :) 7-Harry Potter series by JK Rowling-I love this series. I adore the world building, the laughter it gave me, and I cried several times while reading the final book. 8-TSRs Fiend Folios-These are monster books for the Dungeons and Dragons role playing game. My mother had several of them, and I remember reading them over and over, and looking at the images of the monsters. We created stories about them. My mother gave them life in our campaigns. 9-Ash and Oak by Nya Rawlyns-a MM ROMANCE that I adore. The characters are flawed and beautifully written. 10-Shinobi by Sessha Batto-It took me a very long time to read this novel. It was hard for me because of the subject matter. Its a beautifully written novel, and my first foray into transgressive fiction. It took me ages to write the review because I had to sit on it and digest what Id read. When a book makes me think that hard (and I had to put it down several times because it was THAT intense for me), then its definitely left a mark.
