There are a lot of needs in this world. One may think: Lets give them an education-but without an accessible safe water system in their community, many children will have to forfeit an education altogether because their families need children to transport water rather than attend school. Lets give them a meal-but when children are drinking contaminated water, parasites, intestinal worms and chronic diarrhea forfeit the benefits received from any food available. Malnutrition and stunted growth are often times the result Lets give them a micro enterprise business- but without safe water significant economic development is nearly impossible to obtain. In fact, women spend 40 percent of their caloric intake gathering water for their families. (Africa Water Atlas, 2010) This leaves little time and energy for income-producing activities. The Fact is: Water is LIFE! NO living thing survives without it. NO human being thrives without this most basic necessity. Community water development provides a basis for ALL other forms of development work and this is the work that is Water Our Thirsty Worlds mission. Wont you join us, play a part in this years fundraising event the 4th annual Water Walk. April 24th, 2014 on the IWC campus in Mt Pleasant, Iowa Time 6 p.m. Proceeds form the Walk will support 2014 community water projects in Uganda, Tanzania, Nepal, India and Thailand.
