There are hundreds of festival in Nepal. Among them, Tihar is one of the major and most important festival of Nepal. Tihar is also national festival of Nepal. After Dashain, Tihar is the 2nd major festival of Nepal in Hindu pantheon. Tihar is also one of the longest festivals of Nepal. It is celebrated during 5 days. Tihar is also called as the Deepavali or Diwali in other country of the world. Tihar is also known as the festival of lights. Tihar is the festival joyful. In Tihar, goddess Laxmi, Goddess of wealth, is worshiped. Tihar often falls in in the month of Kartik-Mangsir according to Nepali Calendar. Say, it falls in October-November month. Tihar starts from Kaag Tihar (Crow Puja) and ends with Bhai Tika (Brother and sister puja). ihar (Diwali/Deepawali) is an official holiday in Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore and Fiji. For Hindu, Tihar is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. Deusi Vailo, a cultural dance with songs is played in Tihar. It is famous globally.
