There are many NGOs (Non Government Organizations) working in Pakistan. Some of them are working exceedingly well, comforting poor and needy but many are highly inefficient and inactive. The reason is obvious: corruption. NGOs mostly work on foreign aid and on money of the donors. So they have mechanism to take certain amount of salary from the budget. Higher staff takes out most of the money while lower staff receives less money. But since there is alot of unemployment in the country, people usually accept any amount of money offered to them, as long as it is something. Due to limited resources -and because higher staff mostly gets the lions share- many NGOs exist only in pictures and videos whereas on ground their presence is either limited or entirely unknown. Such organizations are called Ghost NGOs which only exist inside a small house or a building or sometimes only in a desk top pc equipped with internet connection. Another category of NGOs is that which work on ground but on the principle of corruption. Corruption is so high that any NGO can ask a medical doctor or a shop keeper to produce a fake receipt of cash or equipment which then is put forward to donars and auditors just to show them that they are working properly. In reality they are only making money for themselves and not providing any relief to the public. Hence, there seems to be a need for introducing strict auditing in these NGOs. Process of establishing an NGO should be made stringent so that only quality work is promoted. There should be no misuse of money or foreign aid. No organization should be allowed to make people fool and use the money which otherwise belongs to the poor.
