There are many exciting Pacific events at UH Mānoa over the next few weeks, flyers will be posted soon. Please join us! Sunday kicks-off a series of events focused on self-determination in Okinawa including film and panel presentations on 10/13 and 10/18, and a video-conference seminar with the University of French Polynesia, as part of the Pacific Connections series, on 10/16 at 12pm. HIFF begins on 10/10 and Pacific Islanders in Communications presents the PIC Pacific Showcase featuring a wide range of films including Lola Quan Bautista’s Breadfruit & Open Spaces, see the schedule here. Filmmakers Stan Wolfgramm and Christen Marquez will join PIC Executive Director Leanne Ferrer for a special presentation and panel at UHM on Monday 10/14 at 3pm. The Loloma Award presentations scheduled for 10/18 at 12pm have been postponed until 11/15 at 12pm. Starting on 10/21, we have an amazing line-up of readings and presentations by Pacific women writers including Selina Tusitala Marsh on 10/21, Leilani Tamu (Fulbright/Creative New Zealand Writer in Residence) on 10/23, and Lani Wendt Young on 10/28.
