There are many new sights and sounds in the Jungle these days! The scaffolding has gone up to assist with more demolition and as of late, the rain has come in! Progress is moving along nicely and at the moment (knock on wood) remains on schedule. However, the wild Kansas weather we have had lately has set the plant life back a little more than we anticipated. The plants have suffered damage due to low temperatures, high temperatures, high winds, hail and even snow; all in the few short months that the exhibit has been exposed. This will cause the reopening of the Jungle to be pushed back until next year, possibly next Memorial Day Weekend. Pushing the date back will give the Horticulture staff adequate time to rehabilitate those plants that can be saved and add new plants. This new timeline isnt ideal, but we feel the change will benefit both the animals and the guest experience. Thanks again for your patience during this renovation!
