There are many on here, Im sure, that will object to this. They will state that the Redskins are meant to be respectful of First Nations peoples. But, they are the only professional team in the US to have an actual racial slur as their team name. Regardless of how long it has been in place, it is still a slur. Ive also heard the argument, Well why are they only complaining now. Please go back in history and realize that this has been an issue for years, compounded by the very real fact that First Nations people have, in the grand scheme of things, only recently had a voice at all. Tribal members were only granted citizenship in 1924. And even then, they couldnt vote until the 1960s. Thats only 50 some odd years.
