There are many terrible things we humans do. Most are too proud to own up to any fault. Especially today, amidst prejudice and tolerance, one scandal can be seen on here after another, and more scandal still when one condones and approves of scandal. If nothing changes, nothing changes. Nothing will change when you simply justify the past and never admit to any fault. The simple reality is that you cannot overcome something if you cannot own up to it. You cannot be a good friend to others if you shower them with praises while they continue to live a wicked life contrary to what they know is right. It is not always easy for people to do the right thing, but most of the time people know what the right thing is that they should be doing. This life is so short and this world so empty that it is exceedingly foolish to seek the approval of others, or to offer approval to others in sin and scandal; thereby scandalizing others into thinking such a sin is no sin, thus placing yourself into a position of scandal when it is done publicly as it may be done here. As stewards of this earth, we have great responsibilities, and if we were ignorant of such things before we are now bound to amend and correct our conduct hereafter. The simple fact is, that for someone to admit to a fault and correct it, to actually make an amendment of life and subject his or her will to Gods will, is the only way to find peace. In such an act which does not seek self-justification or the approval and praise of others there is no crime that can be remembered even among the mere human faithful in earth. A true amendment of life is met as the prodigal son returning to his father. The past is easily forgotten as though you had never strayed. Our happiness is when our will is bound to God, and we rejoice when, opposing the social constraints of a captive life, we see one return to truth. We embrace our friends, our brothers and sisters who return to truth, and rejoice. From that moment on, we never remember them being anywhere else but with us in one profession of faith, the one truth of God. “If thou wert inwardly good and pure, then wouldst thou discern all things without impediment, and comprehend them well. A pure heart penetrates Heaven and Hell. According as every one is interiorly, so doth he judge exteriorly. If there be joy in the world, truly the man of pure heart possesseth it. And if there be anywhere tribulation and distress, an evil conscience doth the more readily experience it. As iron cast into the fire loses its rust, and becomes all bright with burning, so the man that turneth himself wholly to God is divested of all sloth, and changed into a new man.” Thomas A Kempis
