There are many training opportunities that are missed every day. Feeding time, bathroom breaks, walks, car rides, bed time can all be turn into a chance to train. For instance, last night after a long day and a late exit from the veterinary clinic I decided to just grab something to eat. I had my puppy Flo with me amd she was barking at the people walking around outside. This is when I broke out the treats. It took her one person to decide people walking around werent so scary after all and focus on me. This training opportunity to change an emotional response then turn into a training opportunity to train the behavior of watch. Most people miss the opportunity to train because they are to busy saying no I dont like that, stop it. When instead they should be saying I dont like that so what can I do to get the response or behavior I want. So next time your dog is acting up or even if they arent but you see a behavior you want repeated, seize the moment to train!
