There are some people, even people who claim to be conservative who have no idea what Abraham Lincoln stood for. No idea. They support this thing we call succession, yet Lincoln fought hand and foot to keep the union together while freeing slaves both white and black. I do not support succession in the least. Article 5, totally. Lets try that first. To quote Abraham Lincoln: A nation divided can not stand. Lincoln was and is the founding of the Republican party, in both ideology and practice, conservatism isnt that far off. In fact, Modern day politicians quote and use Lincolns name as if its there ideas. Yet anyone who really know there history knows better. To preserve this great nation at that time Abraham Lincoln did the impossible and that cost him his life and forever changed the landscape of America. Nobody ever says we should unite and think a like. I am sorry, We are Americans. Largely independent minded. However there are things we should be united on, and clearly we are not. Things like our bill of rights. There ours. Given not by Government but our creator. Clearly this is a problem. But, I believe there are more people who are proud of our country, its imperfect but profound founding. We should all be free. That was Lincolns vision. We must not lose sight of this.
