There are some people who arent happy with me at all after they found out that someone tried to rob me when I was walking home from the game last night, but the attempt was never allowed to completely play out. A lot of people are really pissed at me when they found out that I decided to stand my ground. I feel the anger is certainly justified and I am angry at myself, because I did say Id be safer when Im alone, as safe, cautious and protective as I am with other people (there, Wynona Polite). But let me just restate something. In these 34 years Ive been alive, Ive felt a lot safer and more comfortable walking the streets of the dangerous neighborhoods that Im familiar with in the dead of night, than Ive felt sleeping in my own bed or in other beds in other places, or living in other houses. They are my neighborhoods and I have learned through so many betrayals and abuses, that theres more control out there than there is in the company of a bunch of people sometimes. Its different when youre a kid and certain relatives or strangers come over and the house gets crowded, they isolate you, and try to harm you, or succeed in harming you. Its different in other situations that Im quite familiar with, almost drowning, being stabbed at random, and all that other stuff. But I am in charge and Im alone out there. What I did was dumb. I shouldve called for a ride perhaps, but old habits are hard to break. Mei Dei; Weih Deih.
