There are some things seen on Facebook I wish I had not seen, - TopicsExpress

There are some things seen on Facebook I wish I had not seen, since I am already a vegan and thus convinced that cruelty to animals is wrong in all circumstances. I guess these videos would be of value to non-vegans (Earthlings, for instance, should be seen by every non-vegan), but if there is no redeeming value in the video then sometimes it just seems gratuitous. What make me think of this is that I just saw a horrible video of sheep being run over by a transport truck. All that does is further persuade me that many men are morally callous and do evil things that our society allows them to get away with -- which I already knew was the case. Because it is an isolated act of cruelty and we are not sure who the driver was, there is no great social value in sharing it. If a video can educate and help bring about needed social change (e.g. a video that is connected to a petition for instance), there is value in it, but not all videos do that. So before posting cruelty against animals videos, ask yourself if it meets that test.
