There are times I am lucky enough to do a home visit on foot. As I was walking back from a visit this afternoon, I saw a gentleman wheeling himself in his w/c down King Street. Now, I really do mean on the street. Offering to help, he tells me he cant go on the side walks as they are too rough for him. He cant wheel himself over the ridges. He told me he lived at Vets Manor. No, he was not a Vet, said he was too stupid to join, they wouldnt accept him. But, all his family did and none of them came home. So, there you have it. On the heals of Remembrance Day, I find someone who has been failed. He lost his family to war so therefor I feel he has suffered too. And our Lovely city cant do something so simple as make our walk ways safe for him to wheel on. Hmmm, yet, we have this very large Human Rights Museum with this finger sticking up way in the air. Gotta wonder, as I usually do, where are the priorities. I just feel this thing, and much more, could be put on hold for a while. Thought it might be more reasonable to make a few repairs to spruce things up and make them safe. I am rambling and venting. But had to acknowledge Mr M. He lost his family to our country. And, He has to fight to be safe in our streets. Would be great if he had a safe sidewalk to wheel himself on and not the street. Oh, and yes, when I wheeled him those last two blocks it was extremely difficult! Thanks for listening
