There are times when I start to believe that things will be okay; that we, as a species, will actually be able to advance. It may not happen anytime soon, but my hope begins to be restored that we will be able to move past our petty squabbling, that we will let go of ancient superstitions that continue to hold us back and drive us to fight each other, that we will be able to come together and become something so much greater, that we will be able to, like a Carl Sagan dream, traverse the stars. Invariably, this budding hope is responded to and swiftly murdered, and all too often the crime is committed by YouTube comments like the ones found on this video.
