There are very few remaining commercial slot car tracks. Even less for HO. We like building and collecting the cars but unless you have a set-up at home you arent doing much racing. Here in eastern PA there are some club tracks but Ive heard the complaint they are biased towards their owners and the rules are many, varied and change too much. ( my 3rd hand knowledge is not always reliable) Id like to see some racing action on these home tracks but a laugh-it-up smash-it-up not too many rules like when we were kids. I see a common theme among our posters that we want to enjoy our fond memories of kid-racing more than being the fastest, bestest and win the most trophies. Thats how big 1/24 scale slot car racing lost me back in the 60s where the guy with the biggest allowance wins. I was 14 and couldnt keep up with the new stuff every week against older guys that had jobs and money. So Im looking for suggestions how run races, fun and fair and not-too-serious. I met a fellow poster from this site thats building an equal length 8 Ball and wanted to race maybe 10 laps Mano-Mano, 2 guys at a time and have eliminations like at the drags. Each race short and sweet with a clear winner moving on to the next heat. I though it a good idea until he lost me at entry fees and winner $$$$$. Nothing ruins friendships like cash on the table. Any Ideas ???
