There has been too much controversy of Nolan coming to India, but overlooking all that one must identify why Nolan should love India, considering how much Bollywood has influenced Interstellar. I apologise for even attempting to be funny about Interstellar, but I just couldnt resist writing this unorthodox take on the greatest movie I have ever seen... 1. I think the first part of the Indian influence lies in bringing back the quintessentially conservative Indian woman, who never exposes her body unlike the western counterparts. Interstellar takes that to a whole new level, with an Astronaut Suit instead of the ethnic Salwar. No skin show, for a change and good. 2. The initial 10 minutes of the movie is dedicated to an Indian innovation in solar technology, capable of powering an entire farm for months, yet succumbing to western hackers. These whites will never stop gloating of their technical superiority. 3. Interstellar talks about love for 7 Janmas. Yes its not literally 7 Janmas but in 124 years you can take birth at least 4 times considering you were a Mangalik and you died by the age of 30. 4. Interstellar has a Jadoo hand that touches Amelia, that was definitely Koi Mil Gaya inspired, yet we realise that after all Nolan doesnt copy he just improvises. Proud moment for Rakesh Rohan. 5. Interstellar has a father being proud of being an Engineer, wanting his son, Tom to be nothing but an engineer and extremely agitated at being said that good Grades and a certain IQ is necessary for being an engineer. Indian all the way. If I pay my taxes, my son can be an Engineer, logic. 6. Interstellar even copies a background Baritone Effect, just like it happened in Lagaan and Jodha Akbar, just that instead of a parable, it was a poem. 7. Interstellar has a robot whose humour settings can be modified, that my friend was pioneered by a Robot called Chitti in a film by no other than the Thalaiva, after all there is nothing Rajni(cant) do? 8. Matthew McConaughey is almost immortal, now now where have we seen that earlier. He can survive against all odds, including a black hole, old age, shocking G forces and of course who needs Oxygen when there is Ammonia. Okay to those people who feel that technically he is not immortal, fine, we will take the Karan Arjun example. 9. Interstellar has made 100 crores in the first weekend, now come on that one is MADE IN INDIA. 10.Interstellar is a movie that shows a typical Indian household, where Murphs sister in law is the perfect Indian housewife who believes that the Pati is nothing but the Parmeshwar. 11. Interstellar ensures this to prevent death by asphyxiation, and even though we dont get tongue action from the space walkers, there is a 3 Idiotic Lip to Lip at the end of the movie. 12. Interstellar has action, sacrifice, an evil genius and when you think its all going to end, you remember that Picture Abhi Baki Hain Mere Dost... till we finally get the Happy Ending. 13. Interstellar even has the women empowerment sub plot with space colony being named after a certain Ms. Cooper. 14. Of all planets Interstellar took the second most Indian planet Shani, you guessed it right ISRO wrote its name on one a few weeks back making it the most Indian. However we shouldnt forget that of all the planets only Mars and Saturn was mentioned in the movie.
