There have been several tweets from influential public figures who de-emphasise the consumer Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement. That BDS will not help the Palestinian person directly by not buying Coke, McDonalds or not having your daily dose of Starbucks, Well of course it will not provide the food, the shelter the medical assistant or, even physiological support. Thats what human aid and dec appeal are trying to achieve. BDS is a protest in form of refusal to assist directly or indirectly of funds that may reach the hand of the apartheid state. If you refuse to support the supporters or financiers of Israel it will put pressure on these organisations to change policy and remove their outlets and disengage. Thus creating a vacuum of financial assistance and indirect condemnation of their actions. It may be along shot, but one would rather sleep peacefully knowing that their hard earned money is not being processed as the next plug pulled on a bomb or the intel chip assisting in precision bomb deployment.
