There is a difference between Black Ice of Philly and Blaq Ice in Chicago. I suggest any promoter or poet whom chooses to support to do your research before offering support and commitment based on a career on Def Poetry Jam and working with Russell Simmons as oppose to one who has an organization called P.O.E.T. that has organizations in various cities with financial obligations and no attachments to any poetry televisions shows. Is it jacked up that one benefits from the similarities of the name and not the work put in? Yes, very much so, but when in the realm of poetry you tend to find yourself in the belly of the beast and your essence might be what gets fed on to be a benefit or catalyst for another. This is why, as a family, we must protect, correct, and guide each other into being better and doing things right. We can agree to disagree, but when it comes to poets being booked based off of having a similar name and not similar talent, this has got to stop and a meeting of the minds needs to happen to find a solution. Even if the solution is there is none and we go ole school...respect still needs to be there. Just my opinion. ~cj #xblurayne
