There is a leprosy of the body, and a leprosy of the mind. The - TopicsExpress

There is a leprosy of the body, and a leprosy of the mind. The latter manifests itself especially when religion is used to justify the harm of perfectly innocent individuals such that it desensitizes oneself to the pain of HUMANITY. God is no longer seen as the giver of SHALOM (Peace/Wholeness) but one who justifies individuals and peoples to treat others with blatant disregard of their humanity for the sake of religion. The Torah has very detailed laws for handling cases of leprosy. Modern science has shown us that this is a mycobacillary condition called Hansens Disease where the nerves become so desensitized that physical injury is no longer neurally detected through PAIN feedback mechanisms. But there, from the deepest recesses of the Jewish soul, where the Torah speaks its indomitable wisdom and eternal relevance, the Ruach HaKodesh issues its fragrant breath of holiness that so permeates our sensibilities, and reminds us that the way of Heaven is the way of Mercy and Lovingkindness and that the Justice of God is never complete without these, and vice versa. This is the cure. The 25% in this plan is an attempt at applying the cure. So is the work of this Israeli medical team that saved this little Palestinian boy not simply because they feel that Palestinians are deprived, but because of the richness of the sweetness in their souls from the Shalom that comes from the very fountain of Life, the Ruach HaKodesh. When the PEACE is PURE, it overflows onto another through acts of true compassion, regardless of differences in religion. Shalom unites peoples without seeking to destroy the beliefs of others who behave peacefully. You will notice that Jews do not proselytize peoples of different faiths. Hebrew Scripture sums up the Shalom in the Holy Spirit thusly: Isaiah 11 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB) 11 But a branch will emerge from the trunk of Yishai, a shoot will grow from his roots. 2 The Spirit of Adonai will rest on him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and power, the Spirit of knowledge and fearing Adonai — 3 he will be inspired by fearing Adonai. He will not judge by what his eyes see or decide by what his ears hear, 4 but he will judge the impoverished justly; he will decide fairly for the humble of the land. He will strike the land with a rod from his mouth and slay the wicked with a breath from his lips. 5 Justice will be the belt around his waist, faithfulness the sash around his hips. 6 The wolf will live with the lamb; the leopard lie down with the kid; calf, young lion and fattened lamb together, with a little child to lead them. 7 Cow and bear will feed together, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 An infant will play on a cobra’s hole, a toddler put his hand in a viper’s nest. 9 They will not hurt or destroy anywhere on my holy mountain, for the earth will be as full of the knowledge of Adonai as water covering the sea.
