There is a new commissioner in St. Joseph County. Republicans - TopicsExpress

There is a new commissioner in St. Joseph County. Republicans elected Deb Fleming to replace Marsha McClure, who resigned from her position because she is moving out of the area. Fleming is the current Republican party chair in St. Joseph County. She said she will relinquish that role in order to focus on being a commissioner. “Being party chair is almost like a full time job,” Fleming said. “I want to remain as a dentist. Three full time jobs wouldnt work too well. As party chair, you have a role to promote the party. Now, what I have to do is support and promote the citizens of St. Joseph County. I’m switching hats. I dont want to have that be a conflict at all.” Myer Blatt, Michael Ping and Gerard Arthus were the other three candidates vying for the empty commissioner seat. Fleming, Blatt and Arthus were all in attendance at Tuesday night’s caucus. The three candidates got up to five minutes to address the audience before voting began.
