There is a part of our brain called Amygdala, which is one of the most ancient parts of brain, sitting there from reptilian time. It has a powerful radar to scan anxiety related energies in the environment, through all senses. When it finds anxious energies it goes on high alert, shuts down essential parts of the brain including the parts related to our listening, and emotional intelligence and compassion. It activates the parts that are related to archaic aggressive behaviour. Some new studies show that most our modern societies, specially in big cities are actually constantly living in that anxiety energy, always on high alert mode, with emotional intelligence shut down. If you are really searching for roots of increasing rape and aggressive behaviour of young boys, the root is not in cultural level. Its in our animal nature, and has to do with our new lifestyle. The root is in the social and educational systems that constantly make us anxious about delivering results and exams. Basically, when we are focusing on outcomes in a way that makes us anxious, or when we meet people around us who feel anxious, our emotional body goes numb and we are acting more like an angry animal, or a heart-less robot.
